Community Counts with National Food Day

We have celebrated National Food Day every year since the holiday was founded in 2011.  Every October, cities around the US join to celebrate local artisans who make handcrafted delicacies using local ingredients.  It’s not always easy to do that with bread in South Louisiana! What we try to do is bake with local fruits and vegetables when they are in season like strawberries, figs, blueberries and zucchini.

This year, we highlight our Seasonal Grain Bowl which is topped with local satsumas.  But we also want to highlight a non-profit that is working to get food into the hands of those who are struggling.

All week long, if you mention FoodNet, we’ll donate 20% of your purchase to FoodNet.  In addition, you can bring non-perishable goods to the bakery and we will deliver to FoodNet.  Julie Lafleur, Executive Director, and members of the Board will be helping

our crew on Wednesday and handing out info on how we can help FoodNet in the future!

Spread the word so that we can all make a difference.
